Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to evaluate and critique plumbing design documents fornew and existing buildings and systems.
• Ability to oversee and manage other college technicians and outside contractors on projects.
• Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of working with hand and power tools.
• Perform maintenance service, repair, troubleshooting,alterations and other associated work on multiple types of fixtures and systems.
• Ability to determine and implement necessary preventative maintenance.
• Estimate material requirements and pricing to accomplish theabove duties as well as submit recommendations to supervisorconcerning maintenance and replacement of equipment.
• Conduct all work in accordance with current building codes andsafety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawingspecifications and operating instructions.
• Ability to work with others and carry out tasks without direct supervision.
• Ability to adjust to changes in assigned tasks.
• Willingness to respond to emergency after-hours needs.
• Keep Journeyman or Master plumbing license current including attending required training in areas of responsibility.

• Must hold a current Michigan Journeyman or Master Plumber License. High school graduate with at least 3-5 years of experience in the trade preferably in a maintenance environment. Ideal candidate will have a plumbing backflow prevention testingcertificate or be willing to obtain certification.
• Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license. Must pass aphysical examination and possess no physical limitations whichwould inhibit work performance.
• Computer skills adequate to respond to work orders, work with suppliers and communicate with others on campus.
• Ability to plan and organize work based on work orders and preventative maintenance requirements.
• Must have a personality capable of handling stressful deadlinesituations and dealing diplomatically with people.

This position requires remaining in a sitting or position for frequent periods of time; sometimes includes crouching, bending,and having to work in confined spaces or on ladders. This positionoften works in non-climate controlled spaces. Occasionally involvesmoving and lifting items over 25 pounds; frequently will movebetween different offices/work spaces/buildings; and requireseffective communication abilities.
