Harbor Steel is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Truck Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering finished goods to customers while ensuring compliance with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and company policies. As one of the primary points of contact with our customers, you will play an important role in representing Harbor Steel through professional service and safe transportation practices.
WhatYou'll Do
- Safely transport and deliver finished goods to Harbor Steel customers.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain compliance with all DOT regulations and company transportation procedures.
- Complete and maintain electronic driver logs and required documentation.
- Verify load accuracy by reviewing bills of lading and shipping documents before departure.
- Secure loads using straps, tarps, and other required equipment.
- Follow Harbor Transportation loading and unloading procedures at Harbor Steel facilities and customer locations.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and free of debris.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned.
- Valid driver's license and appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to meet and maintain all DOT requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Crane and forklift certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
- Ability to maintain accurate logs and transportation records.
- Basic math skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely secure and tarp loads.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment throughout the workday.
- Steel-toe safety footwear
- Safety glasses
- Work gloves
- Hard hat while loading and unloading materials
- Ability to work schedules and shifts as required by business needs.
- Successful completion of pre-employment and/or random drug screening, as permitted by law.
- Ability to pass and maintain a valid DOT physical examination and medical certification.
