This position will involve one that is well trained in maintaining vehicles and understanding the traffic laws to insure on transportation the appropriate materials to the customers.
- Planning route to insure most economical use of time and equipment
- Load, transport, and unload each shipment in an efficient manner
- Completing appropriate documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Communicate with dispatch and equipment managers
- Performing routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and report needed repairs to supervisor
- Maintaining a clean equipment interior and exterior
- Mechanically competent and have firm understanding of their equipment
- Performing all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
- Reading and filling out monthly safety meeting requirements
- Must be able to pass a random drug and alcohol test per DOT guidelines
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Must possess a valid State Driver’s License with Class A CDL with HAZMAT Endorsement and Tanker Endorsements
- One (1) year relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability of the job
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
- Ability to safely drive various vehicles
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
- Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment DOT Physical and Drug Screen
- Must be able to sit/drive for short or long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50
IBS repetitively - Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays
- Reliable time management
- A strong work ethic with a commitment to succeed
