Job Description

The Holliston Public School District is seeking an inspiring, dynamic leader to join our team as the Assistant Principal of Robert Adams Middle School (grades 6-8). In this pivotal role, you will partner closely with the Principal to shape daily operations, championing student success and driving a positive school culture. As a key member of the district’s leadership team, you will have a direct impact on our collaborative educational community.

Qualifications
  • Massachusetts DESE Certification:
    Principal/Assistant Principal 5-8
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree
  • Minimum of three years technical experience
  • Evidence of leadership ability

This role is part of the Holliston Educational Administrators' Unit.

Basic Function

Assist the principal in leading, guiding, and directing the administrative, instructional, and non‑instructional team to set and achieve the highest standards of excellence. Oversee and administer the use of school facilities, property, and funds efficiently and responsibly.

Organizational Relationship

Reports directly to the principal, and directly or indirectly supervises employees of Robert Adams Middle School as directed by the principal.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for instructional planning and decision‑making within the school.
  • Supervise and evaluate the instructional staff.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and development of professional and paraprofessional personnel.
  • Cooperatively define appropriate curricula for the middle school and assure its articulation both horizontally and vertically.
  • Differentiates instructional roles necessary for high‑quality instruction within the limits of available resources.
  • Assist staff in making judgments about students, developing quantified expectations.
  • Assist teachers with ongoing assessment of student abilities.
  • Assist teachers in effective utilization of space, personnel, and resources for individualizing instruction.
  • Assist in the development and execution of a public relations program.
  • Represent Holliston at appropriate educational conferences and participate in professional organizations.
  • Periodically assist in the review of policy and, where appropriate, make recommendations to the School Committee.
  • Assist in planning and implementing summer curriculum development programs.
  • Cooperatively work with Central Office personnel.
  • Assist in production and updating of curriculum guides in all subject areas.
  • Ensure efficient use of IMC and learning laboratories in educational programs.
  • Aid in collating departmental budget requests and assist in computation.
  • Assemble records for Town Report.
  • Attend school functions in the evening.
  • Act as principal when the principal is absent.
  • Assist in any other duties as directed by the principal.
General Discipline and Supervision
  • Maintain general discipline, counsel parents and students regarding ongoing problems.
  • Assist teachers in obtaining cooperation of students who are remiss in academic achievement.
  • Primarily responsible for discipline in cafeteria, handling problems as they occur.
  • Organize lunch aide schedules and supervise their roles in cafeteria.
  • Review absentee list daily, follow up with phone calls.
  • During and after school, monitor areas for unauthorized use.
  • Supervise buses with teachers for proper exiting/entering and discipline.
  • Communicate with bus drivers regarding student discipline.
Middle School Facility Use
  • Arrange for use of Middle School facilities, primarily after school.
  • Update yearly calendar of organizations using cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, classrooms.
  • Collect custodial reports after events.
  • Coordinate building repair requests.
