Assistant Principal Position
The Holliston Public School District is seeking an inspiring, dynamic leader to join our team as the Assistant Principal of Robert Adams Middle School (grades 6-8). In this pivotal role, you will partner closely with the Principal to shape the daily operations of our school, championing student success and driving a positive school culture. Principal/Assistant Principal 5-8 - SEI Endorsement
- Minimum of a Master's Degree
- Minimum of three years technical experience
- Evidence of leadership ability
This role is part of the Holliston Educational Administrators' Unit.
Basic Function
To assist the principal in leading, guiding, and directing the members of the administrative instructional and non-instructional team in setting and achieving the highest standards of excellence so that each individual student may be provided with a complete, valuable, meaningful, and personally rewarding education. Further, to oversee and administer the use of school facilities, property, and funds with a maximum of efficiency, a minimum of waste, and an ever-present, overriding awareness of and concern for their impact upon each student's education.
Organizational Relationship
Reports directly to the principal, and directly or indirectly supervises employees of the Robert Adams Middle School as directed by the principal.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for instructional planning and decision making within the school.Supervises and evaluates the instructional staff.Assists in the recruitment, hiring, and development of professional and paraprofessional personnel.Cooperatively defines appropriate curricula for the middle school and assures its articulation both horizontally and vertically within the school system.Differentiates instructional roles necessary for high quality instruction within the limits of available resources.Assists the staff in making judgments about students based on available information and to develop quantified expectations for each student.Assists teachers with ongoing assessment of student abilities.Assists teachers in effective utilization of space, personnel, and resources for individualizing instruction.Assists in the development and execution of a public relations program.Represents Holliston at appropriate educational conferences and participates in professional organizations and their activities.Periodically assists in the review of policy and, where appropriate, makes recommendations to the School Committee for revisions.Assists in the planning and implementation of summer curriculum development programs.Cooperatively works with Central Office personnel in a variety of ways.Assists in the production and updating of curriculum guides in all subject areas.Ensures efficient and effective use of the IMC and learning laboratories in the design of educational programs in the respective areas.Aids the administration in the collation of departmental budget requests and assists in the computation as requested.Assembles records for Town Report.Attends school functions in the evening.Acts as the principal when the principal is absent.Assists in any and all other duties as directed by the principal.General Discipline and Supervision
Responsible for maintaining general discipline in the school and counseling parents and students regarding ongoing problems.Assists teachers in obtaining cooperation of students who are remiss in academic achievement.Primarily responsible for discipline in the cafeteria on a daily basis, handling problems as they occur.Organizes lunch aide schedules and supervises their roles in the cafeteria.Reviews absentee list each day, as well as absentee notes, and follows up randomly with phone calls to verify absences.During the school day, monitors areas outside classrooms; i.e., corridors, cafeterias, gyms, lavatories, for unauthorized student use.After the school day ends, supervising these same areas for unauthorized student and non-student use and uses judgment to determine disciplinary measures as necessary.Responsible for buses, along with three teachers, to supervise proper exiting and entering buses morning and afternoon.Primarily responsible for afternoon late buses, four days, concerning "crowd control," extra buses when needed, timeliness of arrival, etc.Communicates with bus drivers concerning discipline of students.Middle School Facility Use
Arranges for all use of Middle School facilities, primarily for after school use, but also during school hours as well.Updates yearly calendar of organizations using cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, classrooms, and other spaces.Collects custodial reports following events and in the follow up of problems.Coordinates requests for building repair.If you are interested in applying for this amazing opportunity, please submit a cover…
