Role Description

The Scientific Technical Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Holliston, MA. This position supports customers and internal teams by providing technical expertise on Auto Gen’s DNA/RNA extraction instruments, workflows, and consumables. Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting instrument and workflow issues, performing root-cause analysis, and delivering technical support via phone, email, and in-person interactions. The role also involves assisting with instrument installations and validations, documenting support activities, and contributing to user guides, application notes, and training materials.

The Specialist collaborates with sales, service, and R&D teams to address customer needs, optimize workflows, and help ensure a high level of satisfaction with Auto Gen solutions.

Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate instrument performance, interpret data, and diagnose workflow or process issues.
  • Clear and professional communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and preparing documentation.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting abilities for resolving hardware, software, and protocol-related problems in laboratory environments.
  • Technical support experience, including remote and on-site assistance, configuration guidance, and user training.
  • Customer service mindset to build trust, manage expectations, and maintain positive relationships with scientific and technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science, biomedical engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree or equivalent lab experience is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction and sample handling workflows.
  • Comfort working in a laboratory setting with instrumentation and consumables, adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, manage multiple priorities, and maintain organized records of support activities.
