As a Substitute Teacher at the Primrose School of Harmony on the Lakes
, you’ll create a fun, safe environment with a daily schedule designed to develop children’s confidence and independence. You’ll help guide these little ones through small‑group instruction as they grow their ability to absorb new content and understand increasingly complex information.

Make a difference every day.

  • Teach children through the design thinking process with challenges that help them learn problem‑solving skills, innovative thinking, executive function skills, and good character.
  • Help children learn critical literacy and math skills while engaging in projects focused on science, art, social studies, and character development.
  • Work with your co‑teacher to implement lesson plans from the research‑informed Balanced Learning® curriculum.
  • Discover what works best for each child—songs, stories, games, art, etc.—to motivate and stimulate their abilities.
  • Assist in emotional learning and toilet training.
  • Explore purposeful play with learning centers and group activities, while still providing individual learning experiences.
Qualifications
  • Must meet requirements for background screening of local childcare regulatory agency.
  • Previous teaching or assistant‑teaching position in a licensed early childhood program (preferred).
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with handling children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
  • Assess each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Implement the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum.
  • Plan with a member of the Leadership Team parent‑teacher conferences and student evaluations.
  • Maintain an attractive, well‑kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore, and make decisions with confidence.
  • Provide verbal recognition and acceptance to children while setting clear and consistent expectations for their behavior.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, workshops, and school functions.
  • Observe all rules and regulations at Primrose School of Harmony on the Lakes and local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to child health, safety, and care.
  • Assist in other capacities as determined necessary by the Director or designee.
