We provide a person centered one on one or group therapeutic approach to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We strive to restore the social, emotional, cognitive and physical goals of each client by utilizing various therapeutic recreation interventions, leisure activities and community involvement.

ABLE Recreation Therapy is seeking a passionate and dependable Part-Time Certified Therapeutic Recreation (CTR) Specialist to support our Therapeutic Day Program, as well as evening social and weekend programming for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Recreational Therapist must be able to effectively communicate with other professionals, conduct assessments, program plan, implement, document, and evaluate treatment. Punctuality, reliable transportation, and a heart for serving others are all a must.
This role is ideal for a recreation therapy professional who is creative, organized, and committed to person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and facilitate engaging, therapeutic recreation activities aligned with participants’ goals
- Support implementation of daily programming within our structured therapeutic day program
- Lead and assist with social outings, community-based activities, and weekend events
- Ensure activities promote social skills, independence, life skills, and community inclusion
- Maintain documentation to meet program and compliance requirements
- Communicate professionally and consistently with families and caregivers
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with staff to maintain high-quality programming and positive team culture
- Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field
- CTR S certification preferred (or eligible to sit for exam)
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
- Creative and energetic personality
- Strong leadership and group facilitation skills
- Compassionate, patient, and person-centered approach
- Ability to adapt activities for varying ability levels
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills

- Monday to Friday: occasional weekends

Monday
- Thursdays 9:30am-3:30pm
- Bachelor's Or Masters
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Required) or sitting for your exam
