POSITION SUMMARY
The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Permit Technician/Certified Permit Technician to serve in the Development Services department. This position is responsible to facilitate and process applications and plan reviews for general construction to verify compliance with the adopted codes and ordinances of the Town. This position is also responsible for administrative functions relative to the documentation and record keeping of applications and issued permits.
SUPERVISORYRELATIONSHIPS
Permit Technicians report to the Permit Supervisor. Work under general guidance from the Permit Supervisor to ensure coordination of objectives and priorities of the department. Permit Technicians have no supervisory responsibilities.
The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends. The starting annual salary for the Permit Technician is $49,793.76 (Grade
E). The starting annual salary for the Certified Permit Technician is $52,758.23 (Grade
F). Salary is dependent on relevant experience and education with an annual pay‑for‑performance salary review.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of construction terminology.
- Ability to read and understand reference books, complicated procedures and manuals such as building code books, blueprints, etc.
- Skill in analyzing complex administrative information and issues, defining problems and evaluating alternatives and recommending methods, procedures and techniques for resolution of issues.
- Knowledge of building construction and building code enforcement.
- Knowledge of the Town and Department’s operating requirements, policies, procedures, and practices; and local, state, and federal regulations related to department programs and operations.
- Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the Town.
- Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
- Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence;
