Senior Electrical Engineer What you will do

In this role you will join the Facilities & Engineering (F&E) group and collaborate with the capital projects team to ensure projects meet site standards and requirements. You will lead the electrical planning, design, and support construction to achieve high quality and timely delivery.

Site Design, Construction, Start‑up, and Operational Readiness
  • Support the design and equipment selection from an electrical perspective of process, utilities, and building systems to optimize quality and cost across the total life cycle of assets.

  • Support factory acceptance testing in partnership with global engineering during site installation, including reviewing protocols and resolving punch‑list items.

  • Provide engineering support during construction to the Capital Projects team, resolve technical issues, and ensure project objectives are met.

  • Execute and guide the commissioning and validation of systems to ensure operational capability aligns with requirements and GMP regulation on-time project delivery.

  • Perform engineering assessments for plant equipment operations, implement equipment modifications, and support engineering runs for new product/technology introductions.

Site Operations
  • Responsible for electrical engineering expertise for process, utilities, and building systems, providing end‑to‑end support for operations.

  • Collaborate with key customers and support groups to ensure reliable plant operations.

  • Work with EHSS in support of electrically related safety initiatives, plans, and investigations.

  • Lead identifying and implementing engineering‑based improvements or upgrades to process equipment systems, including developing business cases and specifications.

  • Support delivery of capital projects with responsibilities for electrical design.

  • Ensure plant readiness and compliance for internal and external audits.

  • Provide technical mastery and problem‑solving leadership to proactively reduce production downtime, including root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Lead new product/technology introductions by performing engineering assessments and risk evaluations.

  • Advance AI‑based solutions and technologies for implementation and to enable growth.

  • Represent Amgen with outside firms, technical societies, and regulatory bodies.

  • Deploy internal and industry expertise to optimize assets throughout their life cycle.

  • Provide rotational on‑call support and ensure 24x7 day‑to‑day reliability.

  • Up to 10% domestic/international travel.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of engineering experience OR

  • Associate degree and 8 years of engineering experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of engineering experience OR

  • Master’s degree and 2 years of engineering experience OR

  • Doctorate degree

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional registration, such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with a clear direction mindset.

  • Experience in a regulated environment, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.

  • Knowledge of regulations (e.g., cGMP, building codes, fire codes, electrical codes, IEE, NEC, NETA, insurance FM, OSHA, LEED, energy codes).

  • Experience in the design and construction of medium voltage electrical distribution systems.

  • Knowledge of 600V (and below) distribution system equipment.

  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to external design firms.

  • Ability to solve technical problems of moderate to large complexity.

  • Problem‑solving skills applying scientific and engineering theory and calculations.

  • Independent, ambitious, organized, multitasking, and skilled in communication.

  • Strong leadership, technical writing, and presentation skills.

  • Work schedule flexibility to support 24x7 operations.

  • Domestic/international travel capability.
