Manager Maintenance Utilities - Night Shift

In this vital role you will provide technical and administrative leadership to a diverse group of craft-oriented personnel, including utility operators, electricians, and HVAC maintenance technicians. The schedule is 3 pm – 11 pm, Monday through Friday.

• Support the start-up of all site utility systems during construction and transfer ownership to the F&E utilities team.
• Develop and implement a long-term strategy for continuous plant and clean utility operations, including system setups in Maximo.
• Develop and execute goals, objectives and associated budgets for all utility services and equipment (electric, natural gas, water/sewage, etc.).
• Ensure utility operations and maintenance programs meet cGMP, safety requirements, local/global regulations and Amgen Maintenance excellence standards.
• Implement supporting organization and business structures, fostering innovation and talent development.
• Maintain procedures for cGMP and daily activities, ensuring compliance by personnel and contractors.
• Oversee safety of all personnel during construction, start-up operations and maintenance across shifts.
• Lead the utility staff and Service Providers for continuous clean and plant utility operations, providing outside-of-normal-hour support as needed.
• Manage a robust utility system maintenance program (preventive, predictive, corrective) to improve safety, reliability, OEE and product quality.
• Analyze engineering/construction/maintenance cost forecasts versus scope.
• Execute facility/utility related initiatives and small projects, providing expertise for capital project execution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Engineering, EHS, Quality, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
• Maintain and improve plant capability and equipment reliability with engineering leadership.
• Identify improvement opportunities, conduct analyses, recommend solutions and lead or support implementation.
• Develop and track key performance indicators of maintenance performance and ensure targets are met on time and budget.
• Support network-wide maintenance and operation improvements and build a culture of creativity and innovation.

• High school diploma/GED plus 10 years of manufacturing equipment maintenance experience.
• Associate’s degree plus 8 years of manufacturing equipment maintenance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of manufacturing equipment maintenance experience.
• Master’s degree plus 2 years of manufacturing equipment maintenance experience.
• Doctorate degree, plus at least one of the above levels and at least 2 years of managing people or leading teams, projects, or programs.

• At least 2 years of direct managerial experience.
• 4 or more years of experience in engineering or utility operations within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or regulatory environments (or military experience).
• 3 or more years of ensuring compliance in a highly regulated environment.
• Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, collaborative team orientation.
• Analytical skills to evaluate complex problems using multiple information sources.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and set goals.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical, fluid and gas equipment and systems.
• Solid understanding of maintenance management, utilities operations programs and CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
• Skill in analyzing and improving facilities-related quality systems.
