Simo Tech has a newopportunityfor an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Lead with a minimum of 5years’experience to join our team supporting a large Biopharmaceutical facility in North Carolina.
The I&C Lead willbe responsible for end-to-end package ownership and oversight of the design,installation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing instrumentation, field bus,and controls work package ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess hands‑on experience in Greenfield pharmaceutical I&C project design, including development ofdesign specifications, system architecture, instrumentation selection, and integration with automation platforms.
- Review assigned area P&IDs, I/O List, control panels, and Vendor Design Documentation providing end to end ownership ensuring design is to industry standards and necessary updates are made.
- Collaborate with the I/O network design firm and provide leadership inthe development of the I/O bus and I/O network architecture.
- Planning activities for assigned I&C activities.
- Act as liaison between A/E firm and I/O bus and network design team toensure all required design elements are accurately captured.
- Review assigned submittals for completeness and compliance.
- Ensures all panels and I/O level network switches are ready for equipment vendor FATs.
- Participates in Vendor Panel FATs and Equipment FATs ensuring that instrumentationand controls and are implemented as designed.
- Ensure proper installation of I&C equipment by coordinating with construction management throughout the build.
- Work with construction management to implement required I&Cequipment updates, ensuring all modifications are completed and properlyrecorded.
- Participates in loop checks and provides troubleshoots of I&Cequipment during commissioning and qualification.
- Reviews eTOPs ensuring all as-builts and vendor documentation is correctly provided to end customer by applicable vendor.
- Assist end site customer ensuring operational readiness.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within the life sciences industry(pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices) related industry.
- Full onsite requirement.
- Strong knowledge of Instrumentations & Controls (I&C) systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including P&IDs,wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and design specifications.
- Preferred experience includes Greenfield pharmaceutical Instrumentationand Controls (I&C) project design.
- Willingness to travel for on-site equipment vendor FATs as needed.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
