Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Upstream Process Engineer to join a leading biotechnology manufacturing organization for an onsite contract position located in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The Senior Upstream Process Engineer will provide technical support for upstream manufacturing operations, partnering with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability, resolve production challenges, and support ongoing process excellence initiatives in a regulated environment.
Responsibilitiesof the Senior Upstream Process Engineer include:
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for upstream manufacturing processes, ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and consistently.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts involving process equipment, control systems, and manufacturing operations, identifying root causes and driving effective resolutions.
- Manage and support quality and compliance activities, including investigations, deviations, corrective actions, and change management documentation.
- Serve as a technical resource for media preparation, bioreactor, filtration, and harvest systems while collaborating with Maintenance, Automation, and Instrumentation teams.
- Monitor critical production activities, assist with process improvements, and support operational readiness during manufacturing campaigns.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 6+ years of process engineering experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting stainless steel bioprocess equipment, including tanks, filtration systems, bioreactors, or related upstream process equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities involving process controls, automation systems, temperature control, pH control, dissolved oxygen management, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience working with DeltaV or similar distributed control systems, with the ability to collaborate effectively with automation and controls teams.
Salary Range: $65-$75/hr (USD)
