UNC Health – Holly Springs Hospital is seeking a full‑time Clinical Nurse II to join our Labor & Delivery team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide compassionate, high‑quality maternal care in a growing community hospital where every team member makes a meaningful impact.

About Our Unit

UNC Health – Holly Springs Hospital is proud to offer comprehensive, family‑centered obstetric care in a modern, thoughtfully designed setting. Our Labor & Delivery unit includes:

  • 7 private Labor & Delivery rooms
  • 5‑bed OB Emergency Department (OBED)
  • 2 dedicated Operating Rooms
  • 2 PACU bays

Each labor room is equipped with a labor tub and Nitrous Oxide capabilities, supporting a variety of pain management preferences and personalised birth experiences.

We collaborate closely with our Postpartum and Level II Nursery teams to provide seamless care from admission through recovery. Our OB Emergency Department evaluates obstetric concerns for patients greater than 16 weeks gestation through 6 weeks postpartum, and we typically care for labouring patients at 35 weeks gestation and above.

Collaborative, 24/7 Support
  • 24/7 in‑house OB provider coverage
  • Strong partnerships with OB/GYNs and Certified Nurse Midwives
  • Dedicated OB CRNA available around the clock for epidurals, spinals, and general anaesthesia

Summary:

Provides competent nursing care consistent with professional nursing standards. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others and supports patient safety initiatives.
  • Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programmes based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population‑appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects of care. Performs bedside point‑of‑care testing as required for patient care plan. Utilises healthcare organisation and nursing standards, policies and procedures in delivery of care. Organises and prioritises care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.
