Job Description
As the Senior OSS Engineer (Linux, Docker, Kubernetes), you will lead day‑to‑day delivery, support, and availability of the FDB Global Infrastructure. Your responsibilities include building, configuring, administering, and supporting infrastructure technologies and solutions such as computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) and open‑source packages, containerized, virtual, and cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). You will assist in designing and implementing standard information security and security controls, support the technical design and delivery of global projects, and manage capacity, business continuity, backup, and QoS for all hosted systems.
PrincipalAccountabilities
- Lead day‑to‑day support and availability of the FDB Global OSS Infrastructure, including build, configuration, and administration of infrastructure technologies across computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS, and open‑source packages.
- Perform cross‑functional, multidisciplinary technical support and delivery of global projects, compile technology documentation for GxP and critical IT technologies, and participate in system validation and testing processes.
- Work with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational solutions and services.
- Deploy new technology, systems, and hardware, ensuring smooth integration with existing infrastructure, compliance with policies, procedures, and security frameworks, and definition and meeting of AIS metrics prior to deployment.
- Technical lead for capacity, support, and availability management of the global IT platform, storage, and business continuity services.
- Advise senior IT management on technology support and availability needs, produce solution documents and reports.
- Mentor peers and build IT/OT technical solutions globally with a secure‑by‑design methodology.
- Perform cross‑functional technical support, evaluation, and delivery of project work packages and design requirements for enterprise‑level IT/OT systems.
- Lead roadmaps and strategies for IT/OT architecture and security initiatives.
- Design systems with medium/high levels of risk, impact, and complexity.
- Consult with administrators, vendors, and personnel to provide guidance and technical direction for enterprise solutions aligned with business strategy.
- Deliver cyber security governance and policies for all IT/OT infrastructure systems.
8+ years in an IT 3rd/4th line position with a proven track record in an enterprise IT infrastructure environment, or 3+ years in a biomedical IT service environment. Any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background to meet role expectations is acceptable.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- In‑depth design and support knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as RHEL, VMWare, Windows Server 2012‑2022, Citrix, hyperconverged solutions, Ansible, Satellite, Debian.
- Experience with backup/replication technologies such as Veeam.
- Strong experience building and managing enterprise Linux systems.
- Strong experience building and managing containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with open‑source projects and licenses.
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Strong experience with infrastructure storage solutions including design, build, and administration.
- In‑depth knowledge of infrastructure security and frameworks such as ISO
27000. - Understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN.
- Solid business acumen and ease when engaging with senior leadership.
- In‑depth experience of scripting and automation technologies.
- Experience tracking emerging IT issues, strategies, roadmaps, patterns, and technologies to assess opportunities for service delivery improvement.
- Adept at communicating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Adept at gaining support from business and technical stakeholders for low/medium risk initiatives.
- Understanding of security regarding open‑source technologies.
