Position: Clinical Nurse-II (Days), Holly Springs Emergency Department

Overview

This position qualifies for our UNC Rex Incentive Program, which includes up to $20,000 commitment incentive or up to $25,000 tuition loan forgiveness. In addition, this position is also eligible for up to $10,000 in relocation assistance (based on location) and our employee referral program. The Rex Holly Springs Hospital Emergency Department provides a full range of emergency care to patients and their families.

It is home to 24 patient beds, two major resuscitation rooms, and a full staff of emergency professionals. If a higher level of care is required, we can arrange a transfer to the appropriate facility.

Shift

7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., rotating weekends and holidays.

Complete injury and illness care
Advanced imaging such as X‑rays, CT scans and ultrasound
Laboratory testing for blood work and urine tests
Heart and stroke care
Breathing support
Trauma care

Chest pain or pressure
Breathing difficulty and shortness of breath
Allergic reactions
Heavy bleeding
Severe infections such as sepsis
Less critical emergencies such as fractures
Wound care and emergency surgery
Fracture and orthopedic care
IV medications and fluids
Pediatric care
Observation and monitoring

Summary

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Education – Identify and meet learning needs of self; attend relevant education programs; use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn for patients, families, and caregivers; assess developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.

Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance as needed to revise the plan of care; discuss patient care with interdisciplinary team members; communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.

Implementation – Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing as required; apply nursing standards, policies, and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult appropriate resources for complex care issues, unique teaching needs, or high‑risk discharge planning.

Leadership – Develop goals to promote professional growth; achieve objectives within identified time frame or renegotiate with supervisor; participate in intra/interdepartmental collaboration; contribute to unit goals and performance improvement; use communication systems effectively; promote cost‑effective care; provide feedback to coworkers; be aware of public policy and regulations; promote a safe, clean, and secure environment for all.

Patient Assessment – Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities; include physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs; synthesize assessment data into a meaningful whole for communication; anticipate discharge needs and build relationships with families to advocate for patients.

Planning – Collaborate with patient and family to prepare or update the plan of care; leverage multidisciplinary resources; use communication to convey planning; address cultural and ethnic issues; prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.

Research – Read relevant journals; bring ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.

Education Requirements

Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
For hires after January 6 , 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing or a master’s degree with a major in nursing within seven years of employment date.

Licensure / Certification Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Professional Experience Requirements

One (1) year of nursing experience.
