Job Profile Summary
The purpose of the Assistant Director Financial Aid position is to ensure efficient and effective delivery of financial aid to all eligible students. The position is responsible for the daily operations, training and supervision of the campus staff involved in the awarding and delivery of financial aid. The delivery includes but is not limited to the development, maintenance and assessment of all financial aid computerized systems while providing financial assistance and excellent customer service to all students.

The Assistant Director of Campuses ensures excellent quality service to students and staff, consistency of information to all staff, training and outreach efforts to the community. The Assistant Director monitors staff work and handles any student staff complaints from the campuses. Also handles and monitors phone coverage, email inquiries and delegates work to staff accordingly.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience/Training:
Five years of experience in financial aid processing, with three years in a supervisory or lead (leading projects, processes and staff) capacity required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Essential Functions:
Daily - 30%:
Oversees and supervises the daily operations and coordination of financial aid services, including the supervision of the Senior Advisors and part time staff at all financial aid campus offices, providing excellent and consistent customer service.
Daily - 20%:
Provides guidance to staff advising students regarding student financial aid programs, eligibility requirements and the application process to students and parents. Analyzes and evaluates financial aid eligibility for students.
Daily - 15%:
Oversees staff in the training and application of new financial aid processes and procedures ensuring the accuracy and consistency of information provided to students, staff and the community. Responsible for the overall supervision of campus staff and resolving issues regarding campus staff and students.
Monthly - 5%:
Assists in the development, supervision and testing of interfacing financial aid systems with other internal systems, such as College Integrated Data Base (CID), student records, and credit and collections. Approves accuracy of test data as needed.
Other (Biannually) - 10%:
Assists in the writing, training and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures. Assists with the development of departmental policies, procedures and manuals. Provides departmental support in identifying and solving system based problems.
Other (Annually) - 5%:
Contributes by providing recommendations regarding staff training needs in relation to both the computerized college systems as well as the interpretation of federal financial aid regulations. Assists in streamlining and updating the financial aid processes to more effectively package, award and distribute aid according to state and federal guidelines. Further, assists in maintaining campus decorum to ensure the most current information and processes are being delivered to students.
Other (As Needed) - 5%:
Oversees the short and long range financial aid planning, including delivering on the customer services aspect of financial aid. The Assistant Director position interfaces with many external systems such as Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), Florida Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Central Processing Service (CPS), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) as well as OSFA and DOE. The position also acts as liaison between financial aid and other departments, as well as community organizations, student and parental concerns.
Other (Annually) - 5%:
Assists in organizing, implementing and presenting regional financial aid workshops for currently enrolled and prospective students. These workshops are sometimes held collaboratively with the School Board of Broward County and college-wide personnel.
