Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Pembroke Pines, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Potential for Extension)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM;
Rotational Saturdays, 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM
We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Pembroke Pines, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood specimens from patients using established phlebotomy procedures and best practices.
- Prepare, label, and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
- Ensure all patient information, specimen records, and documentation are maintained accurately and confidentially.
- Explain collection procedures to patients and create a positive, professional, and reassuring experience.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Follow company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete daily assigned tasks accurately and within established time frames.
- Demonstrate professionalism and promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Support operational needs, including flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
- Strong specimen collection, handling, and processing skills.
- Experience with keyboarding and data entry.
- Ability to provide accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other formal medical training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience drawing blood from pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service-oriented environment preferred.
- Excellent venipuncture and specimen collection techniques
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and patient interaction skills
- Professionalism and confidentiality
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads and staffing requirements
