The Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, monitoring, maintenance, security, and optimization of enterprise server and infrastructure systems supporting the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. The position ensures the availability, performance, reliability, and security of infrastructure and business applications and contributes to the development and maintenance of standards, processes, procedures, and documentation for the technology environment.
The Systems Administrator works collaboratively with IT staff, business units, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues, implement technology solutions, support business continuity and disaster recovery, and maintain a secure and resilient computing environment. The position may assist with the physical and environmental security of data center and server facilities and may participate in after-hours maintenance, incident response, or emergency recovery activities.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Seven years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, network/server administration, or a closely related technology field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education where permitted by applicable County policies.
- Industry certifications in areas such as Microsoft, cloud technologies, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, or related infrastructure disciplines are desirable. The employee is expected to maintain professional knowledge and pursue training and certifications appropriate to the position and the organization’s needs.
- A valid Florida Driver License is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong knowledge of enterprise server operating systems, systems administration, virtualization, storage, backup, and infrastructure management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory), on-premises Active Directory, hybrid identity and synchronization, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, identity and access management, MFA, Conditional Access, and enterprise authentication technologies.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual infrastructure administration.
- Knowledge of enterprise backup, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity concepts.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure configuration practices, vulnerability management, patch management, access controls, and incident response.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to plan and execute system changes while assessing operational, security, and business impacts.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, system diagrams, logs, performance data, and vendor specifications.
- Ability to prioritize competing technical issues and projects in a high‑pressure operational environment.
- Strong documentation, organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with IT staff, management, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies, organizational requirements, security threats, and regulatory or operational requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and maintaining current technical knowledge.
- Microsoft Windows Server administration and lifecycle management.
- Microsoft Entra on-premises Active Directory administration, including hybrid identity and synchronization, organizational units, security groups, permissions, Group Policy, replication, trusts, domain services, MFA, Conditional Access, and role-based access controls.
