Job Description

Hollywood Chrysler Jeep Collision Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finisher/Prepper for our paint department. This critical role ensures the ultimate quality of the vehicle's finish by handling all preparation work-making sure properly repaired and primed panels are flawless before painting-and executing the final finishing work, including color sanding and buffing, to achieve a professional, high-quality final appearance that meets dealership standards.

Adherence to all Body Shop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Preparation Phase:
    • Inspect all repairs and primed panels for proper and complete body repairs and primer application as defined in SOP.
    • Review any incomplete, missed damage, or improper repairs with management before proceeding.
    • Mask/protect adjacent panels (non-refinish) from scratches or damage before final sanding and refinishing.
    • Prepare properly repaired and primed panels (including blend panels) for final finish application using abrasives, power tools, and hand tools, as directed in SOP.
    • Ensure proper paint adhesion by cleaning and removing all dust and other particles from repair/refinish panels completely prior to moving vehicles to the paint booth.
  • Finishing Phase:
    • Avoid over-sanding (cutting through the finish) or under-sanding (leaving visible sand scratches) during prep work.
    • Perform color sand and buffing (CSB) to restore refinish texture quality and ensure a flawless final appearance, free of imperfections.
  • Operational & Safety:
    • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
    • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor (e.g., training new employees, housekeeping duties).
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of body shop prepping/finishing/buffing experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb. Ability to lift 1-15 pounds (e.g., light hand tools, etc.). Requires manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks, and vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
