Composites Repair Shift Lead (A, B & C Shifts) Position Summary

The Composites Repair Shift Lead provides technical leadership and operational oversight for composite repair activities across A, B, and C shifts at New Glen. This position ensures repair capability is consistently available by coordinating personnel, repair materials, tooling, hot bond equipment, and repair documentation while supporting production priorities and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The Shift Lead serves as the central point of contact for composite repair operations, ensuring standardized repair practices, efficient execution of scarf repairs, and continuous communication between shifts.

Primary

Responsibilities Operational Leadership
  • Coordinate composite repair activities across all production shifts.
  • Prioritize repair work based on production requirements and aircraft schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance for scarf repairs, bonded repairs, and other approved composite repair methods.
  • Support production teams in determining repair feasibility and execution plans.
  • Ensure consistent repair practices between shifts.
Repair Material & Equipment Management
  • Coordinate availability of repair materials, consumables, adhesives, prepregs, core materials, peel ply, release films, vacuum bagging supplies, and ancillary items.
  • Maintain readiness of hot bonders and associated repair equipment.
  • Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hot bond equipment.
  • Monitor tooling availability and ensure required repair fixtures are accessible.
  • Maintain inventory levels and communicate material shortages before they impact production.
Technical Support
  • Provide hands-on support for complex composite repairs.
  • Assist technicians with repair planning, layup sequencing, cure profiles, and vacuum integrity.
  • Verify repair setups prior to cure.
  • Ensure repairs comply with engineering dispositions, repair manuals, and approved procedures.
  • Support first-time or non-routine repairs.
Quality & Compliance
  • Promote adherence to FAA, company, and engineering requirements.
  • Verify repair documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Monitor repair quality trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions related to composite repairs.
  • Support audits and quality inspections.
Shift Coordination
  • Conduct shift turnover meetings to ensure continuity of ongoing repairs.
  • Communicate equipment status, material availability, and repair priorities across A, B, and C shifts.
  • Coordinate support resources during high-production periods.
  • Escalate issues affecting repair capability or schedule.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to reduce repair cycle time.
  • Standardize scarf repair processes and hot bonder utilization.
  • Develop best practices for composite repair execution.
  • Support technician training and mentoring.
  • Recommend improvements in tooling, materials, and repair methods.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, SRMs, repair specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership experience in a production or maintenance environment.
