Produces high-quality decorated items and baked goods according to the company's standard product offerings, decorates cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items. Assists in daily operations in the bakery department. Increases customer trust and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operational conditions. Offers fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing team members' backgrounds and experiences.
Essential Responsibilities
SERVICE: 40%
Creates an environment that allows customers to feel welcomed, important, and appreciated to increase customer trust and loyalty. Ensures the department is merchandised according to plan. Offers daily conditions that meet company expectations in terms of product availability, freshness, quality, and shelf value. Offers product samples, answers product questions, and assists customers in finding or suggesting products. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.
Maintain an efficient and organized method of receiving and processing customer orders. Decorate merchandise according to customer request ensuring satisfaction with all products. Utilize decorating kits and hand-held decorating skills to prepare a range of quality baked goods.
FINANCIAL: 40%
Perform daily and weekly tasks (communications, online training, etc.) Process/bake merchandise according to production guidelines; test products to ensure quality. Check product quality for expiration dates and take necessary actions. Review production schedule to determine the variety and quantity of products to bake. Receive and download delivery truck and store products in designated area. Store and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control;
restock and use supplies efficiently to eliminate waste and keep supply cost low. Maintain knowledge of inventory/storage conditions and report any inventory discrepancies. Inspect product quality and freshness and take appropriate actions with those items. Use production planning tools to produce fresh products accurately and ensure that markdown or discount processes are followed to reduce losses. Ensure product is kept at the proper temperature according to food safety guidelines and maintain temperature log records as per policy.
LEADERSHIP: 10%
Promotes trust and respect among associates through collaboration, promotion of teamwork, and communication of specific company, department, and job information. Guides and empowers the team to meet or exceed goals. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10% Ensures company standards are maintained in terms of safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity. Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements related to food safety, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and country of origin labeling (COOL) and Department of Agriculture (DOA).
Execute all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner, while ensuring all items are protected and removed from customer access. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions to report to store management. Notify store management of customer or employee accidents. Report all safety hazards or illegal activities, including theft, pilferage, or fraud. Ensure compliance with wage and hour policies and regulations.
Cultivate a safety culture within the store. Ensure that you and all associates work safely and have received necessary safety training. Ensure hazard assessments are posted for associate reference and that personal protective equipment is available and used by all associates performing tasks within the department as needed. Ensure equipment is in good working condition; report and help with remediation (e.g., blocking/tagging equipment) of safety hazards within the department.
