Financial Reporting
The company is looking for a hands-on Controller to help run the numbers behind its growing group of captive reinsurance entities. You'll sit at the center of monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls — and you'll have real room to build smarter, faster processes rather than just maintain old ones.
Expect a role with visibility: you'll work directly with FP&A and interact regularly with senior leaders across the organization, all while shaping how the close process runs for years to come.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Lead the month-end GAAP close — journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting work papers for the company's captive reinsurers
- Dig into account and variance analysis, explaining the story behind the numbers
- Prepare financial statements and exhibits, keeping every deliverable on schedule
- Partner with FP&A on company projections and the broader reporting package
- Manage and mentor a team of accountants, investing in their growth
- Design, evaluate, and strengthen internal controls across the close cycle
- Champion automation — find smarter ways to deliver polished results, faster
- Support collateral calculations and reconcile figures against cedants' numbers
- Serve as the go-to contact for external auditors, tax preparers, and other advisors
- Guide the team through the annual audit and interim agreed-upon procedures
- Bring ideas to leadership that shape both daily decisions and long-term strategy
- Keep accounting policies and process documentation current and clear
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 8–12+ years in financial reporting and accounting; CPA preferred
- Solid reinsurance industry background a Must
- Strong command of both Statutory and GAAP accounting principles
- Excel and PowerPoint fluency
- A steady hand under deadline pressure, solo or as part of a team
- Sharp attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
- Clear, confident communication — written and verbal
- Flexibility to connect across time zones when the work calls for it
- Mix of Public and Industry preferred
