Overview

The Senior Software Engineer operates as a senior/lead team member on assigned Insurance Carrier project teams to implement, integrate, leverage, and enhance the FAST platform. We are seeking a full stack developer who is smart, proactive, and results-oriented to build elegant solutions for the Life insurance industry's complex business domain and to advance our industry-leading products.

The ideal candidate has experience building products across the stack with a firm understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and multiple back-end languages for a SaaS application. This role involves solving front-end and back-end challenges within a small team to deliver exceptional experiences for the Life insurance industry. This position is based in either our Holmdel, NJ or Jersey City, NJ locations with a flexible hybrid work model.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers to support their technical growth and problem-solving abilities.
  • Work across the full stack to build highly scalable distributed solutions that enable strong user experiences and measurable business growth.
  • Develop new features and infrastructure to support rapidly emerging business and project objectives.
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scalability while maintaining high standards for code quality and design.
  • Be a leading voice in the continuous modernization of the SaaS offering.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical discussions with senior management, engineering teams, and business units; translate complex topics for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Design and guide the building of end-to-end systems optimized for speed and scale using SOA design principles on J2EE and .NET platforms.
  • Work with technologies such as .NET, Angular/REACT, JavaScript, SQL Server, and Postgre

    SQL.
  • Collaborate with designers and front-end engineers and work with back-end engineers to create reliable APIs.
  • Develop next-generation user interfaces and innovate on integration patterns using microservice design.
Qualifications Soft Skills and Personal Attributes
  • Strong analytical skills to break down complex objectives and provide appropriate solutions within the FAST application context.
  • Focus on delivering value to clients while balancing operational and regulatory constraints.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate complex product features clearly to clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and foster collaboration across departments.
Required Technical

Skills and Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of experience building large-scale software applications.
  • Experience in building web applications.
  • Proficiency in programming with Java, C#, or .NET; strong object-oriented design skills.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, ExtJS) is a plus.
  • Experience with SOA concepts and methodologies; microfront ends and microservices are a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing on-shore and off-shore resources.
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs; strong debugging and optimization skills; experience with unit/integration testing.
  • Experience with AWS services.
Preferred

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or engineering (Masters a plus).
  • Interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies; professional certifications are a plus.
