Lead Machinist | Holt, MI
Salary Range: $58,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We partner with manufacturers across Holt seeking Lead Machinists who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of machinists, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
- Program, set up, and operate advanced CNC machinery and conventional machine tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex machining issues, ensuring high-quality part production.
- Develop and implement process improvements to optimize machining efficiency and reduce waste.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machine tools and equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to interpret blueprints and specifications for complex components.
- 5-7 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting various machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, CNC machines)
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, tooling, and machining processes for a range of materials
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience, including training and mentoring junior machinists
- Expertise in performing quality checks using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges)
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation
- Certification in a specialized machining technique (e.g., EDM, laser cutting)
- Proven ability to mentor junior machinists or lead training initiatives
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
