Skilled in operating Class A commercial vehicles, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Sunday-Thursday 930pm-6am and will vary depending on coverage needed
90% no touch freight, but may require use of a manual pallet jack
3 years verifiable exp required
Pay Scale: 28.00 per hour
Hours: 40 standard, however additional hours will be necessary based on customer needs.
Requirements — what you bring:Job Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles to transport freight between terminals or customer locations, typically overnight or long-distance routes.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries while maintaining adherence to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Secure freight properly using straps, load bars, or other equipment to prevent shifting during transit.
- Maintain accurate records using electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other required documentation (e.g., bills of lading, delivery receipts).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, terminal staff, and other team members regarding route status, delays, or issues.
- Refuel and maintain vehicle cleanliness, reporting any mechanical issues immediately.
- Follow all safety protocols and use PPE as required at terminals and customer sites.
- Occasionally assist with loading or unloading freight, depending on route and customer needs.
- Represent the company in a professional manner while delivering excellent customer service.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) Must be in good standing and issued by the state of residence.
- Minimum Age Requirement Usually 21 years or older (may vary by company and insurance policy).
- Driving Experience 3 years of recent verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience preferred (some companies may accept recent CDL school graduates for entry-level roles).
- Clean Driving Record No major violations, DUIs, or preventable accidents in the past 3-5 years.
- DOT Medical Certification Must hold a current and valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA Regulations Familiarity with Hours of Service (HOS) rules, ELD usage, and all applicable safety standards.
- Ability to Operate Manual and Automatic Transmissions Depending on fleet equipment (some companies may require manual shifting skills).
