Evening Library Assistant, Holyoke Public Library (Holyoke)

Provides prompt and friendly service to customers of all ages at the library circulation desk, and other public service areas. Assists with all circulation duties. Duties Including but not limited to managing holds, shelving, shelf reading, and processing interlibrary loan and Commonwealth Catalog items. Library Assistants also answer the library’s main phone line, direct people to meeting rooms and handle incoming patron questions.

• Experience working with the public.
• Working knowledge of library services.
• Ability to work with library customers and staff in a friendly, efficient manner.
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
• Ability to perform routine clerical and record-keeping tasks repetitively and efficiently.
• Ability to learn and use the Evergreen Integrated Library System and related equipment.
• Ability to maintain reliable attendance and regular work schedule.
• Excellent customer service skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and basic problem-solving skills.
