Eligibility:

Open to current nursing students enrolled in an Associate Degree or BSN program.

The SNAP Program at Holyoke Medical Center affords student nurses the ability to gain confidence and experience as they transition into professional practice. This program aims to bridge the gap between academic education and clinical practice. This structured pathway helps to ensure a successful start to a nursing career by providing the necessary support, education, mentorship and hands-on experience.

SNAP's will attend a variety of educational classes such as code blue classes, sepsis classes, end of life symptom management, Dementia classes, etc. They will practice assessment skills as well as high stakes clinical scenarios in our new, state-of the-art simulation lab. This practical experience is invaluable in building competence in patient care.

The students also have the opportunity for an educational shadow experience based on their interests. These observations may take place across a variety of specialties including, but not limited to, the Emergency Department, Operating Room, Critical Care, Medical Telemetry, and even nursing leadership. These experiences can help to shape the students' short and long term career goals while also identifying opportunities for further education and advancement.
