Responsibilities
  • Under the general direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Health and Professional Studies is responsible for divisional leadership that supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the College.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of assigned instructional programs, services, budget, grant projects, course scheduling.
  • Provides leadership in curriculum, academic assessment, and strategic planning.
  • Responsible for leading the Division in data-informed decision-making and important initiatives that further equity and diversity, especially in an HSI-serving institution.
  • Assists in identifying and seeking opportunities in College fundraising.
  • Fosters collaborative working relationships with internal and external counterparts to communicate and coordinate initiatives that support College and instructional goals.
  • Includes the following instructional programs:
    Veterinary Technology, Radiologic Technology, Nursing (ASN and PN), Education (Early Ed, Elementary, Secondary), Culinary Arts, Foundations of Health, and Human Services (Developmental Disabilities, Addiction Studies, and Mental Health).
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of assigned instructional programs, services, operating budget, grant management, course scheduling and faculty workload.
  • Drives the development and evaluation of Division curricula, ensuring quality in support of new and existing Associate Degree and Certificate Programs.
  • Represents the Health and Professional Studies Division and College in appropriate public and private forums; leads collaborative workforce development and non-credit initiatives; revitalizes and creates educational training partnerships; promotes articulation agreements with baccalaureate institutions and area high schools.
  • Provides leadership for faculty in designing and implementing a student learning outcomes assessment program; supports experiential learning opportunities; promotes instructional technology tools and varied instructional methodologies to enhance student learning.
  • Monitors enrollment and graduation data and provides leadership to the Division on recruitment, marketing and retention.
  • Monitors compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies (ACEN, BORN, JCERT, AVMA, ACF); ensures qualified faculty are hired for related clinical and field experiences; prepares accreditation and other required reports when coordinating with program administrators.
  • Develops, coordinates and maintains cooperative relationships with area health care providers and external agencies; oversees off-site clinical and field experience contracts.
  • Adheres to applicable collective bargaining agreements and college policies; administers personnel policies for related staff.
  • Prepares agenda and chairs Division meetings; serves on College committees and acts as Academic and Student Affairs representative as assigned.
  • Oversees the coordination and compliance of health records and CORI/SORI review.
