• A comprehensive approach to early literacy that includes strong core instruction and one-on-one tutoring, contributing to more students reading at grade level
• A thriving dual language English/Spanish program, where nearly 900 students are on their path to becoming bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural
• More than one-third of Holyoke teachers identify as people of color, a 19-point increase over 10 years. Many partnership programs support staff to earn licensure or additional certification.

This position supports the enrollment, engagement, and compliance for multilingual learners, dual language students, and former EL students. It supports both teachers and leaders in welcoming new students and ensuring schools’ compliance with DESE guidance for EL students.

• Reviewing documents and previous ACCESS scores
• SLIFE interviews
• Discussing needs with new families and ensuring they have support
• Screen and score the students with WIDA Screener
• Screen and score the students using first language screeners
• Collaborate with instructional coaches and MLL director to finalize EL assignment
• Adding HLS, intake, and necessary documents to Ellevations
• Create handovers for schools that include students’ academic and linguistic history, interests, and key information for schools to know to welcome students

• Create users for all upcoming teachers (August) and also throughout the year if anyone is new
• Manage and upload documents if missing from student CUM
• Annual parent letters
• Maintain coding and paperwork in SIS/ELlevations: opt-out forms, flags

• Connect EL families with DL information
• Screen all students interested in joining DL program with Spanish screener
• Monitor applications and administer PreK/K language screeners during enrollment season of the dual language program
• Support coordination of Seal of Biliteracy alongside ML and DL Directors

• Partner with FACE, ENLACE, and other community supports to ensure that EL families are set up in the HPS school system
• Using DESE Holistic Support and Enrichment, Social-Emotional Learning, Health, and Safety to support families

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, or 2 years of college-level coursework with 3 years of highly relevant experience or equivalent training in a school, early education or community agency setting which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform essential job functions.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of community dynamics, resources, services, leaders and partners
• Knowledge of community conditions in Holyoke and of the needs of the diverse families residing in Holyoke
