Job DescriptionPosition Overview: We are seeking motivated and dedicated interns to participate in our internship program through Holyoke Public Schools Extended Learning Department. As a student intern, you will gain valuable hands‑on experience ideally aligned with your career of interest. A Beyond the Bell After school program intern will support the delivery of high‑quality, engaging, and supportive educational programming for students in grades K‑5.
This role offers valuable experience in educational settings, contributing to both the academic and social‑emotional development of younger students.
- Classroom Assistance: Support teachers and program staff in classroom activities, including academic and enrichment sessions.
- Provide one‑on‑one or small group academic and social‑emotional support to students.
- Mentoring and Leadership: Act as a role model and mentor, encouraging positive behavior and engagement among students.
- Lead or co‑lead enrichment activities, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
- Program Support: Assist in preparing materials and setting up activities for daily programming.
- Help ensure a safe and inclusive environment by adhering to established health and safety protocols.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training sessions to develop skills in teaching, mentoring, and professional communication.
- Reflect on experiences through regular check‑ins and discussions, contributing to personal and professional growth.
- Holyoke High School student with an interest in education, youth development, or related fields with good academic standing.
- Ability to engage positively with young children and serve as a role model.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and committed to the internship duration.
- Estimated weekly hours: 6‑8
- Total internship duration: 10‑15‑2025 through 06‑05‑2026
- Additional Opportunities are available through acceleration academies for 1 week, with a $500 stipend.
- Summer Learning:
June 30 ‑ July 30, 8am‑3am
- Hands‑on experience in educational settings.

Hourly rate: $16.50 per hour.
Position Type: Stipend
Salary: $16.50 to $16.50 STP
