Position OverviewWe seek a dedicated, empathetic, and experienced School Psychologist to work on a contract basis in person at the school and remotely for reporting and documentation. The role involves comprehensive psychological services, collaboration with educators and families, and fostering a healthy learning environment.
Responsibilities- Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to determine students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Provide counseling and interventions to support students' emotional and mental health needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address students' academic and behavioral challenges.
- Offer consultation and training to school personnel on strategies to improve learning environments and student outcomes.
- Promote positive mental health through prevention programs, crisis intervention, and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Perform extensive psychological evaluations and support effective individualized instruction.
- Evaluate eligibility for special education services within a multidisciplinary team.
- Collect data, provide systematic observations, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Make referrals and participate in the coordination of community support services.
- Participate as a crisis team member and provide crisis intervention when warranted.
- Stay current on new developments in the field of education.
- Must reside within 45 minutes of the school district.
- Certified School Psychologist by the Michigan Department of Education.
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Experience with positive behavior support and universal strategies for students with behavioral concerns.
- Experience in the administration and interpretation of a variety of assessments.
- Knowledge of Special Education Law and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).
- Proven ability to develop modifications and accommodations for the general education curriculum.
- Training in administering and interpreting psychological evaluations within an educational setting.
- Track record of developing and maintaining positive relationships with school staff, parents, administrators, and community agencies.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-approved/accredited program.
- Valid state license or state Department of Education certification as a School Psychologist.
- Educator Certificate (if applicable).
- Preferable experience working as a School Psychologist in a school setting.
- Preferable knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
- Strong skills in psychological testing, counseling, and intervention techniques.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to cultural competence and diversity.
- Passion for working with children and adolescents in educational settings.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs.
