Position Overview

We seek a dedicated, empathetic, and experienced School Psychologist to work on a contract basis in person at the school and remotely for reporting and documentation. The role involves comprehensive psychological services, collaboration with educators and families, and fostering a healthy learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to determine students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide counseling and interventions to support students' emotional and mental health needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address students' academic and behavioral challenges.
  • Offer consultation and training to school personnel on strategies to improve learning environments and student outcomes.
  • Promote positive mental health through prevention programs, crisis intervention, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform extensive psychological evaluations and support effective individualized instruction.
  • Evaluate eligibility for special education services within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collect data, provide systematic observations, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Make referrals and participate in the coordination of community support services.
  • Participate as a crisis team member and provide crisis intervention when warranted.
  • Stay current on new developments in the field of education.
Eligibility & Experience
  • Must reside within 45 minutes of the school district.
  • Certified School Psychologist by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Experience with positive behavior support and universal strategies for students with behavioral concerns.
  • Experience in the administration and interpretation of a variety of assessments.
  • Knowledge of Special Education Law and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).
  • Proven ability to develop modifications and accommodations for the general education curriculum.
  • Training in administering and interpreting psychological evaluations within an educational setting.
  • Track record of developing and maintaining positive relationships with school staff, parents, administrators, and community agencies.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-approved/accredited program.
  • Valid state license or state Department of Education certification as a School Psychologist.
  • Educator Certificate (if applicable).
  • Preferable experience working as a School Psychologist in a school setting.
  • Preferable knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
  • Strong skills in psychological testing, counseling, and intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to cultural competence and diversity.
  • Passion for working with children and adolescents in educational settings.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs.

Compensation

Salary: $70 per hour
