Course OverviewHolyoke Community College invites adjunct applications to teach ART 126: 3D:
Three Dimensional Design – Sculptural Form in Fall 2026. The course description: A foundations course in art and design. The basic elements and principles of three-dimensional form will be explored through the manipulation of various materials. Emphasis is placed on creative problem solving to generate ideas, and to develop working drawings and maquettes that will result in the construction of three-dimensional sculptural objects.
Students will learn to think about form within the context of artmaking and learn to communicate visually. Two 2.5 hour studios per week.
- Adjunct faculty provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis.
- Reports to a dean and performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college.
- Distributes and reviews the course syllabus via the course LMS (Canvas).
- Utilizes active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course.
- Stays abreast of ongoing developments and practices in the professional content area(s).
- Arranges for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment in a timely manner necessary to meet course objectives in collaboration with the area dean.
- Records and reports student data including assessment of student performance and final grade reports.
- Supports students' learning goals by focusing on learning outcomes, understanding student needs, providing support, making reasonable accommodations, maintaining academic integrity, and being available to assist students.
- Recommends campus services to students as needed.
- Attends all scheduled classes and follows procedure if absent, including notifying supervisor and arranging alternate assignment.
- Master’s Degree in Visual Art or related field.
- Firm grounding in the subject matter of the course being offered.
- Experience using an online learning management system to support classroom instruction (Canvas preferred).
- Commitment to and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff & student body.
DCE Salary – $1,397.00 Per Credit; no benefits.
