Job OverviewHolyoke Public Schools is a PreK‑12 public school district serving nearly 5,100 students. The district is committed to equity, inclusion, and academic success for all learners. This role supports students through direct therapy and collaboration with educators.
Responsibilities- Provide direct therapy to students of all ages, using small‑group and inclusive interventions focused on listening, speaking, reading, writing, auditory memory/processing, executive functioning, and social thinking/pragmatics skills.
- Consult general‑education and special‑education staff regarding student needs and best practices.
- Assist the Speech and Language Pathologist with evaluations as needed.
- Participate in Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings and assist in implementing and monitoring IEP goals.
- Meet all district, state, and federal program requirements, including IEP and progress‑report deadlines.
- Create a positive educational environment using a multi‑tiered system of supports.
- Communicate professionally with the student’s team.
- Remain current with instructional theory, practice, and research; engage in regular professional development.
- Commitment to equity and closing the achievement gap.
- Leadership qualities – coaching, mentoring, and inspiring others.
- Data‑driven focus on measurable student improvement.
- Adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Team‑player with respect for diversity.
- Bachelor’s degree and licensure from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Prior experience teaching social/pragmatics preferred.
- Demonstrated collaborative teaching ability.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Salary range: $38,500 to $53,750 (Full‑time).
