Position: .5 Fine Arts Teacher

Job Description

The Fine Arts Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based instruction in performing arts to elementary school students. The teacher fosters creativity, self-expression, and appreciation for the arts while supporting the school's mission and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment. This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position serving students in grades PreK-5.

Essential Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum
  • Plan and deliver high-quality fine arts instruction aligned with state and district standards.
  • Develop lessons that promote creativity, artistic skills, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation.
  • Integrate a variety of artistic techniques, materials, and media into instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Incorporate opportunities for student choice, collaboration, and performance or exhibition of student work.
Student Learning and Assessment
  • Assess student progress using a variety of formal and informal measures.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and participation.
  • Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and improve student outcomes.
Learning Environment
  • Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Promote positive student behavior and engagement.
  • Maintain and organize instructional materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure the proper care and use of art materials and equipment.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives as appropriate.
  • Contribute to school events, performances, exhibitions, and celebrations that showcase student learning.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional standards and confidentiality.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning related to arts education and instructional practices.
  • Support the school's commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Appropriate Massachusetts teaching licensure in Dance or Theatre
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering creativity and a love of the arts in all students.
Terms of Employment
