As a Market Analysis Engineer Intern at ISO New England, you’ll work alongside industry experts, explore real-world electricity market operations, and use data, optimization, and emerging AI tools to help support the power system that serves more than 14 million people across New England.

The Day-Ahead & FTR Market Applications team is a focused, collaborative, and results-driven group that develops and supports innovative solutions for efficient market operations and grid reliability. This team helps advance one of the nation’s most forward-looking electricity markets by combining technical expertise with practical problem solving.
What You’ll Work On:In this internship, you’ll gain hands‑on experience with electricity market systems, market data analytics, optimization models, and AI‑driven process improvements. You’ll help develop, enhance, and analyze market applications that support real-world operations and decision‑making in the regional power system.
How You’ll Make an Impact:Your work will provide valuable support for optimization and power market application initiatives that help improve market efficiency, strengthen analytical tools, and support reliable grid operations.
What We Look for in a Candidate:- Interest in power systems, electricity markets, optimization, or energy technology.
- Coursework or knowledge related to Unit Commitment, Economic Dispatch, or power market fundamentals.
- Exposure to optimization solvers such as CPLEX or Gurobi is preferred.
- Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
- Python coding experience and interest in using AI for analysis are a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with power market optimization applications used in real-world energy operations.
- Exposure to Unit Commitment, Economic Dispatch, mixed‑integer programming models, and tools such as Gurobi or CPLEX.
