Registered Nurse I – Full & Part Time (Benefited) Multiple Shifts – Continuous (2500055G)
The Veterans Home at Holyoke is seeking nursing professionals for our Registered Nurse I (RN) position for the 2nd and 3rd shift. The RN I is the first level in the series and is responsible for providing overall exceptional patient‑driven care and support to veterans in order to effectively evaluate medications and/or treatment regimens. The role will support, educate, direct, and guide the performance of LPN, CNA and administrative staff, while communicating information in a clear and constructive manner to patients and their families.
APPLYTO THIS POSITION IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 1 YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AS A REGISTERED NURSE Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive)
- Provide exceptional nursing care and oversight by assessing health care needs to ensure the prevention of illness and the promotion of health maintenance
- Dispense medications and perform treatments in compliance with policy and procedures
- Collect health and status data for individuals
- Ensure information is documented, communicated, and made readily accessible
- Identify acute problems and initiate intervention or referrals for needed medical services, confirming that follow‑up care is pursued
- Support nursing leadership and training for staff; serve as an advocate to ensure individuals receive appropriate health care treatment, health education, and other health related services
- Serve as a first responder for behavioral or medical crisis situations
- Support and respond to emergency situations involving severe and violent behavior
- Maintain individual records and files; perform data entry of medical information
- Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods and techniques
- Ability to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information
- Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering professional relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with safety practices and medical terminology/abbreviations
- Aptitude to transcribe, read and comprehend the English language
- Full‑time (40 hours per week) and part‑time (24 or 32 hours per week) positions available, alternating holidays and weekends.
- 1st Shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) – FULL
- 2nd Shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) – Available
- 3rd Shift (11:15 PM to 7:15 AM) – Available
- Base salary does not include shift differentials
- Flex days off and every other weekend
- Schedule and days off based on the operational needs of the facility
- 24/7 facility – mandatory overtime may be required when circumstances dictate
