The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a member of the mental health care team that provides treatment to patients who need psychiatric care. Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, from patient assessment and diagnosis to the development and implementation of treatment plans.
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders
- Prescribe medications and other treatments as necessary
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
- Document patient care in electronic medical records and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Must be a graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program.
- RN licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner within the state of MA required.
- Prior experience in a Psychiatry setting is preferred but not required.
- MCSR and DEA license required.
- Advanced level knowledge and expertise in Medicine and advanced skills in the application of child/adolescent and/or adult medicine.
- Knowledge of current ICD methodology.
- Skills in interpreting and applying standards and regulations applicable to behavioral health inpatient services (e.g. JC, CMS, DMH, DPH).
- Time management, problem-solving, crisis management, and team‑building capacity; flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stress.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to providing high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare technology.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of current mental health laws and ethical standards.

Pay Range: $155,000 - $170,000 per year (Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience).
