American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Behavioral Health unit position requiring an active MA RN license and 3 years of experience in a locked psychiatric setting.

Requirements
  • Active MA RN license required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • Handle with Care (HWC) certification required, can be completed on site if needed
  • Minimum of 3 years of RN experience required
  • Experience working with mental health patients in a locked setting required
  • Experience administering medications via Omni Cell system required
  • BSN preferred
Responsibilities
  • work in a Forensic/Continuing Care behavioral health unit within a hospital setting
  • Adult patient population aged 18 and over with a history of legal issues, transitioning toward community placement
  • Common diagnoses include bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, major depression, substance abuse, and chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and COPD
  • 46-bed unit with a 1:9 RN patient ratio
  • Uses point‑of‑care blood glucose testing and vital signs equipment
  • Utilizes Cerner EHR
  • Medication administration via Omni Cell system
  • Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend
  • No on‑call responsibilities
  • No floating requirements
  • Provide direct nursing care to adult behavioral health patients in a state‑of‑the‑art unit with the lowest restraint rate in Massachusetts
  • Work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team including an internal medical group, rehab staff, social workers, and three unit psychiatrists
  • Candidates should demonstrate trauma‑informed, compassionate care with flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Blue scrubs required; open‑to‑e shoes and provocative or tight clothing are not permitted
  • Orientation occurs bi‑weekly on Tuesdays
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
  • Candidates must not be employed elsewhere full time
