In 1989, Wikoff’s first continual improvement department was established, adopting a Total Quality Management approach. Over the years, the department has matured and expanded its vision to include not only oversight of the quality management system, but also training programs and employee safety while adopting other improvement methodologies such as lean and six sigma.
Position Overview:The Quality Control Technician is responsible for testing and verifying that all raw materials, intermediates, and finished products meet established quality standards. This role ensures that production processes comply with specifications and supports root cause analysis and corrective actions. The QC Technician plays a key role in maintaining product consistency, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform in-process and final product testing according to established specifications and test methods
- Inspect raw materials and batch samples to verify conformity prior to use or release
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all testing, results, and certifications
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment in compliance with internal procedures
- Support Operations in addressing product quality issues and investigating non-conformances
Communicate testing results and release decisions to Production and Operations Managers - Assist in identifying quality trends and recommending improvements
- Comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory protocols related to lab and production work
- 100% completion of required testing with accurate and documented results
- Timely release of batches with no avoidable delays due to QC bottlenecks
- Zero quality-related customer complaints from released product
- Lab and equipment compliance with internal audit standards
- Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Science, or related field (preferred)
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 2–4 years of quality control or lab testing experience in a manufacturing or process-driven environment
- Familiarity with lab instrumentation and techniques such as viscosity, pH, color matching, etc.
- Knowledge of quality systems, documentation practices, and non-conformance handling
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures.
- Must use or wear equipment, protective devices, or certain clothing as required by the company.
