Description Position

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare, season, and cook food for residents, patients, employees, staff, and visitors in accordance with established recipes and menus. This role ensures quality food preparation, proper food safety standards, and timely meal service while supporting Trinity Health Senior Communities’ mission, vision, and values.

• Prepare, season, and cook soups, entrees, casseroles, vegetables, meats, gravies, and other food items according to established recipes and menus.
• Measure, weigh, and combine ingredients for quantity food preparation.
• Inspect and taste food to ensure correct seasoning, quality, and proper serving temperature.
• Ensure menu items are prepared in a timely manner and ready for assigned meal times.
• Operate manual and automated kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, mixers, and blenders.
• Maintain records of food supplies and ingredients used in preparation.
• Transport food items between storage and preparation areas and ensure proper refrigeration and storage.
• Maintain clean, sanitary work areas, utensils, and equipment in accordance with safety standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent educational development required.
• Up to one year of basic technical training in cooking techniques preferred.
• One to two years of previous related cooking experience required.
• Up to three months of on-the-job training and orientation required.
• No certification, registration, or licensure required.
