Hotel Baker
The Hotel Baker position is responsible for preparing and baking bread, pastries and a variety of other baked goods to support the Land’s End Resort, a 117-room hotel in Homer, AK.
Responsibilities- Prepare food as indicated by par level sheets.
- Follow standardized recipes to meet nutritional needs.
- All items are attractively presented with appropriate garnish and correct portion sizes, where applicable.
- Participate in daily temperature and taste panels to assure quality and provide suggestions for continuous improvements.
- Produce a wide variety of bakery products.
- Assist with pastry preparations including mixing, baking, and frying as directed by production sheets.
- Control portions on all items produced.
- Prepare bakery and specialty products such as pastries, bread, rolls, biscuits, cakes, pies, muffins, puddings, parfaits, frosting, cookies, and rolls.
- Communicate any needed adjustments to bakery production records or sheets.
- Coordinate with supervisors on ordering products.
- Maintain a clean, neat storeroom area with all products labeled, dated, and rotated.
- Adhere to proper sanitation, safety, and operational procedures and clean personal work area.
- Operate dish‑washing machine to clean pots, pans, and baking sheets when required.
- Actively support and participate in performance improvement activities and help coworkers during staffing shortages.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Management Team.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of demonstrated baking experience with documented knowledge of scratch baking and baking management.
- Ability to follow standardized written recipes.
- Knowledge of and training in the use of food production and baking equipment.
- Alaska Food Handler's Card required within 30 days of hire.
- English language proficiency for speaking, understanding, reading, and writing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of consecutive employment in a similar operation with comparable responsibilities.
- Associate’s degree in baking and/or culinary arts.
- Cake decorating experience.

Indoors: environmentally controlled; most or all work performed inside.

Physical requirements:
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight.
