Under the direct supervision of the Project Foreman, provides manual labor assistance on housing projects, helping with minor renovations, construction, installation, and repair performed on housing construction projects. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assists carpenter, plumbers, and other housing crew members with tasks on housing construction projects.
- Constructs, repairs, restores, and installs structures such as floors, doors, walls, windows, stairways, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and roofs.
- Plans and builds tribal building and residential construction projects for new home construction projects, home renovation projects, residential emergency assistance program, and other approved tribal housing activities.
- Adheres to building plans to guarantee utilization of cold climate construction methods and to implement building codes.
- Observes local building and safety codes and guidelines.
- Conducts work ensuring safe procedures and practices; cleans shop and job site to maintain a safe environment; and disposes of construction waste and garbage in accordance with safe procedures.
- Completes preventive maintenance on hand and power saws, planers, lathes, joiners, shapers, drills, sanders and a variety of tools.
- Assists in tracking materials allocated to housing projects for cost and inventory management.
- Ensures the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
- Completes general construction duties and related work as required.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to successfully complete a background investigation and drug test.

- Carpentry and cold-climate residential building construction including plumbing and boiler systems.
- Carpentry equipment operation such as saws, drills, planers, routers, and assorted power tools.
- The care and safe operation of hand and power tools and other equipment used in carpentry work.
- Understand and read blueprints, building codes and layouts, and construction drawings.
- Solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately and calculate figures and amounts.
- Interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
- Make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Uphold strong ethics and integrity.
- Remain in compliance with Tribal Drug Free Policy.
