Job Description
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), State Equipment Fleet, is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic Automotive Advanced Journey/Lead to support the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports and other user agency vehicles.
What You Will Be Doing- Professionally maintain all heavy-duty and light-duty equipment and vehicles.
- Resolve unusual or complex equipment problems through a variety of techniques and methods; perform routine and specialized repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment.
- Diagnose, maintain, repair and modify systems including transmissions, drivetrain, suspension, engine and emissions, fuel injection, hydraulic, and brake systems (air and electrical) for light and heavy‑duty equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines, tools, designs, repairs, and maintenance.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to new information and changing conditions.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems.
- Self- management: sets realistic goals, displays initiative, works with minimal supervision, and demonstrates responsibility.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Must obtain Class A Alaska CDL within 120 days of hire and sign an agreement.
