Position: Maintenance Specialist - Bldg/Facility/Const - Journey 1 (PCN 252114)

Job Description

Maintenance Specialist - Bldg/Facility/Const - Journey 1 supporting the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) facilities services in Deadhorse. The position works semi‑independently to construct, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain state facilities in accordance with state statutes and codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and electrical systems and components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building and airport building systems to protect safety and health of facility users and maintain property condition.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct occasional field inspections and short‑duration travel as required.
  • Maintain accurate work logs, reports, and documentation.
Working Environment

Location:

Deadhorse.

Schedule:

12‑hour shifts, 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off. Housing provided during active work periods. Remotes and urban facilities serviced.

Core Competencies &

Minimum Qualifications
  • Electrical: knowledge of equipment, components, instruments, and systems.
  • Mechanical: knowledge of machines and tools.
  • Painting: knowledge of materials, methods and tools for protective coatings.
  • Plumbing and Pipe fitting: knowledge of materials, methods and tools for pipeline installation and repair.
  • Problem Solving: identifies problems, evaluates alternatives and makes recommendations.
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
  • Basic first aid/CPR knowledge.
