JOB SUMMARY
The Shop Foreman will oversee the performance, quality and flow of work as performed by Equipment Shop and field personnel, to include safety considerations, work order assignment, routing, and review of quality of work performed; to direct and mentor mechanics and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Conduct daily meetings with the Service Writer and Fleet Superintendent to review maintenance activities, assess workloads, and establish priorities.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance work to maximize equipment availability, optimize maintenance resources, and minimize operational downtime.
- Supervise shop, field, and yard maintenance personnel, including Mechanics, Welders, Oilers, Tire Technicians, Tow Truck Operators, and Mechanic Helpers.
- Oversee the maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy‑duty equipment, including tractors, vacuum trucks, and a variety of heavy equipment makes and models.
- Review Mechanics' Notifications of Repairs to verify accurate labor and parts estimates and ensure all required repairs are identified.
- Evaluate previous work orders for similar repairs to ensure consistency, completeness, and cost‑effective maintenance practices.
- Coordinate repair approvals with the Service Writer and Fleet Superintendent as required.
- Schedule and coordinate equipment repairs, preventive maintenance (PM), inspections, and related maintenance activities.
- Assign work to maintenance personnel, clearly communicating job expectations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Review daily employee timesheets for accuracy, ensuring equipment identification, mileage or hours, labor, resources used, and work performed are properly documented.
- Receive, review, and act upon daily equipment inspection reports and maintenance documentation.
- Prioritize parts procurement and repair scheduling to support efficient workflow and minimize equipment downtime.
- Manage the preventive maintenance program by establishing priorities, scheduling PM services, and ensuring work is completed on time and to established quality standards.
- Ensure maintenance jobs are properly planned by confirming the availability of required parts, tools, materials, and equipment before work begins.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and hands‑on support to shop and field maintenance personnel as needed.
- Monitor shop and field maintenance activities to ensure repairs and preventive maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality and cost standards.
- Serve as acting Fleet Superintendent during absences or as assigned.
- Supervise and mentor apprentice mechanics and other developing maintenance personnel, providing training and guidance in heavy vehicle and equipment repair procedures.
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid (U.S. issued) Driver's License is required.
- A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
- The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
- At least five (5) years of experience servicing and maintaining Kenworth, Peterbilt Tractors, Link belt, Grove Cranes, CAT, Hitachi excavators, Genie and JLG manlifts, Westmark crude/diesel tankers, Westmark vac trailers, Volvo L50, and L220 loaders as a Heavy‑Duty Mechanic is required.
- Proficient experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Fleet Focus Management System Software is required.
- Proficient troubleshooting and repair experience with power train, hydraulic, air and electrical systems is required.
- Five (5) or more years of experience working as a Lead Heavy‑Duty Mechanic specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environments is preferred.
