Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic in Nome, AK

  • Work with the Equipment Superintendent and Operations Manager’s to maintain all Heavy‑Duty Equipment and keep it in safe, working order.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records of all work done to equipment.
  • Maintenance may include fueling, lubrication, preventative maintenance, welding, fabrication, repairs and rebuilds.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
  • Level of Experience Requirements: 5+ years of Mechanical experience in Heavy Equipment, including loaders, excavators, and haul trucks.
  • Must have a valid Alaska Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of Cat Operating systems, ability to troubleshoot and repair as necessary
  • Ability to order necessary parts to complete maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Ability to work with computers to trouble shoot various systems on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – understanding how work moves through a company.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.
  • Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Time management and prioritization – balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Problem‑solving and critical thinking – analyzing issues and selecting appropriate solutions.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills – building rapport and collaborating effectively with others.
  • Attention to detail – producing accurate, error‑free work.

Preferred

  • Cat Certified Mechanic
  • 15 years mechanical experience
  • Class A CDL
