Overview
American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with Everglades National Park is seeking ONE Project Coordinator Member to contribute to coordinate projects during their pre-construction and construction phases alongside National Park Staff.

Location: Everglades National Park, Homestead, FL
Everglades National Park protects the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, with more than 1.5 million acres of diverse habitats. The park is home to many threatened and endangered species and sources drinking water for South Florida. The northern section is accessible via Miami or Everglades City; the southern section via Homestead.
Position Overview:
The member will help coordinate several projects that the Project Manager is working on, enabling exposure to Project Management methodologies and processes in a professional environment. After training, the member will track pre-construction and construction activities, data collection and analysis, site conditions, risk estimation, and analyses. The member will evaluate engineering aspects of regulatory and permitting programs, assist the Project Manager in overseeing planning and implementation of a major restoration project, and keep stakeholders updated.
The member will provide recommendations to expedite planning or construction activities.
- Assist the Project Manager to track progress on major restoration projects, including assessment of field conditions.
- Facilitate coordination and communication with other groups and offices involved in the projects.
- Identify and coordinate issues prior to adverse impacts to the schedule and budget; participate on technical teams.
- Identify and develop solutions to engineering problems or needs, and develop skills in independently planning and conducting reviews.
- Assist the Project Manager with project planning and scheduling, creating a work breakdown structure and an integrated delivery schedule.
- Collect and analyze data related to the project.
- Prepare regular briefings and presentations to communicate project status and progress to multiple stakeholders.
- Track progress and identify delays to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Coordinate between project teams and external parties to keep everyone updated.
This individual placement is designed to facilitate professional development and promote exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals, including potential experiences in different conservation fields and shadowing other work groups.
Schedule and BenefitsSchedule: Anticipated 9:00 am – 5:30 pm at location; earlier starts may be needed for site visits.
Benefits: Living Allowance: approximately 40 hours/week with a living allowance of $770/week, dispersed bi-weekly. Housing is the member’s responsibility and not provided by ACE or NPS. Provided training/orientation on ACE policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
QualificationsRequired:
- Authorized to work in the United States (ACE does not sponsor visas).
- Professional, positive representation of ACE and partner organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record; members must be 21+ to drive due to insurance requirements.
- Willing to undergo and pass required criminal history checks.
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Bi-weekly timesheets, start/end term feedback forms, and mid-term evaluations for longer terms.
- Must not participate in prohibited activities per the Member Service Agreement.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in project management or relevant experience in engineering or hydrology, or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong multitasking and detail-orientation.
- Willingness to visit construction sites.
Preferred:
- Certificate in project management (preferred but not required).
- Ability to read engineering reports and drawings.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Deep interest in project management and coordination.
