Event Manager / Planner
Homestead‑Miami Speedway (HMS) is seeking an experienced Director, Event Operations to drive facility utilization and deliver operational excellence across NASCAR weekends, third‑party events, and year‑round activities.
This role provides senior leadership over event operations and guest experience, with a focus on driving revenue growth and enhancing the fan and stakeholder experience.
Responsibilities- Lead event operations for NASCAR weekends and major events, serving as primary liaison with sanctioning bodies on scheduling, operational readiness, and facility requirements.
- Oversee execution of event infrastructure—including hospitality, midway, partner activations, signage, and Victory Lane.
- Manage labor planning, vendor relationships, cost controls, and conduct post‑event reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead Guest Services strategy, staffing, onboarding, credentialing, workforce deployment, transportation operations (including ADA), way finding and guest communications.
- Manage event calendar and long‑term strategy to maximize open dates and pursue new business opportunities (racing series, third‑party events, corporate activations, community programming).
- Increase ancillary revenue through signage, hospitality infrastructure, and facility assets, and expand track rental utilization across motorsports, automotive OEMs, experiential marketing, and private events.
- Own revenue and expense budgets for major events, monitor labor hours and vendor expenditures, implement forecasting, accrual tracking and operational planning processes, and oversee Sign Shop and Entertainment Equipment budgets.
- Secure certificate of insurance (COI) and risk/loss assessment and compliance.
- Coordinate pre‑event meetings and post‑event follow‑up/recap.
- Act as liaison between Track Operations, Venue Operations, Security, and Fire & Safety teams.
- Bachelor’s degree (Business preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in event operations, venue management, or related field.
- Proven success in revenue generation and contract negotiation.
- Experience managing large, seasonal work forces.
- Strong financial acumen and operational planning skills.
- Experience in a major sports or entertainment venue preferred.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays; travel as needed; ability to stay fully engaged during extended event operations.
