Summary

These positions located in Everglades National Park, in the Natural Resources Division. This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year and can be extended up to 5 years.

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Southeast, Office of Natural Science Studies, Homestead, FL. At the full performance level (GS-09) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Serves as Biological Resource Monitor on infrastructure and development projects, conducting site visits to verify compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigation measures. Conducts field surveys for threatened and endangered species (including American crocodile, Florida bonneted bat, listed butterflies, listed plants, and other species), collects and analyzes biological data, and prepares reports for internal and partner agency review. Assists senior biologists in preparing Environmental Screening Forms in NPS's Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) system and drafting sections of Biological Assessments and other ESA and NEPA compliance documents.

Maintains natural resources compliance databases and records, including field data, permit documents, and agency correspondence. Coordinates with park subject matter experts, facilities maintenance, concessions staff, and regulatory partners to communicate compliance requirements and support resource protection.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work (~50% of time) in South Florida conditions. Field work in extreme heat and humidity, biting insects, venomous wildlife, and difficult terrain including wading through water over uneven substrate for extended distances. Salary Range Information: $65,735.00 - $85,460.00 per annum
